CaptoolsDB connection errors will be indicated by an error message when you try to launch the Captools/net Server Control Panel.

 

A database connection error can result from a number of causes:

 

1) The database may have become "detached" from the MS-SQL Server Engine.   This can be resolved by using MS SQL Server Studio Express to "re-attach" the database.  It is a good idea to make a copy of the \Captoolsnet Server\Database folder prior to attempting this, because you may be required to "delete" the existing database connection in MS SQL Server Studio Express, before you can re-attach it.

 

2) If you performed a "Disk Cleanup" and allowed the CaptoolsDB files to be compressed, this will cause the Database Connection error.  To resolve this, you need to uncheck the "Compression" option on these files:
