Software Application Developer

Captools Company, maker of advanced investment management software, located in Issaquah, WA has an opening for an entry to mid-level Application Developer who can productively apply a versatile set of software skills.

Initial responsibilities in this position will be to streamline and run our build and installation projects, including developing installation projects targeting the most recent MS-Windows (Vista/Server 2008) operating systems. This will involve writing, testing and maintaining installer programs needed to configure various Windows operating system components, permissions and settings needed by our software.  Collateral responsibilities in this role will include performing basic pre-release software testing and assisting customers install our software (by telephone and remote assistance) for issues which exceed the scope of our regular support staff.  Prior experience in software build and deployment is desired for this role.

Longer term, responsibilities for this position will involve developing collateral applications supporting our existing software.  These could be either MS-Windows-based or web-based applications, interfacing with an SQL data source, depending upon the requirements.  Solid prior application development experience with an object oriented language such as C#, Java, C++ or Delphi is expected, as is some experience with SQL, WMI scripting and VBScript. Experience with developing and deploying web-based applications and with ASP.net will be a plus. Knowledge of Web Services and .Net framework and class libraries is a big plus. Optionally, experience with Source code control systems, virtualization technologies, basic networking and firewall operation will be helpful.

Qualifications include prior major application programming experience and/or release and deployment management experience with some prior minor but demonstrable software development experience. 

Experience working in a Development environments on MS-Windows XP\Server 2003 platforms with MS Windows components, including IIS is essential.  Experience with installation project tools, such as Installshield Express or other equivalent tools, or ability to quickly learn these is expected.

General qualifications include demonstrated technical problem solving skills, including the ability to independently perform online research to learn and apply solutions, methods and technologies needed to complete your job tasks and  to meet company needs as they arise.  Effective English communication skills are also required, as is an ability to be patient in dealing with customers. The person selected for this position will be expected to have education in a computer related field, or an equivalent experience record.  Willingness to experiment with new technologies and to provide leadership in implementing these is also essential.

The base salary for this position will depend upon experience and demonstrated knowledge in the field. Additional milestone related bonuses may be applicable from time to time.
